Pangaea Biosciences Products
Pangaea Biosciences has developed two flagship products. The first is Booster™, a product that can overcome resistance to herbicides and insecticides. The second is Enigma™ Eco, a delivery system that replaces the harmful surfactants contained in many agrochemical products.
Booster™
- BOOSTER™ is an optimised and patented formulation, originally derived from a naturally occurring essential oil.
- The formulation has improved stability, uptake, and chemical compatibility and has demonstrated superior efficacy in extensive field trial programs.
- BOOSTER™ leaves the insect in a hypersensitive state so a following application of an insecticide will even kill very resistant pests.
ENIGMA™ Eco
- Patented in more than 60 countries. Pangaea’s herbicide ENIGMA™ Eco incorporates its novel delivery system. TARDIS™ technology has consistently proven to control weeds at significantly lower use rates with faster activity and without regrowth.
- ENIGMA™ Eco with Tardis™ inside, also replaces the harmful surfactants in many agrochemical products with sustainably sourced plant-derived and food-safe ingredients and is therefore significantly kinder to the environment, soils, water sources and human health.
- The economic benefits lead to increased food productivity and quality.
Tardis™
Tardis™ is a novel antitranspirant which, when applied together with a crop protection product (CPP), will both increase the rainfastness and slow the time it takes for the CPP to dry on the surface of the target weed or pest, thereby prolonging the absorption time taken to enter the target organism.
Tardis™ is novel, environmentally friendly and uses only sustainably sourced plant-derived and food-safe ingredients. It is therefore significantly kinder to the environment, soils, water sources and human health.
When combined with Booster™ and a CPP in a tank mix, Tardis™ will delay the absorption of the partner CPP, allowing Booster™ to control the resistance mechanism in the organism first so that efficacy of the CPP is restored.

Why use Pangaea Biosciences Products?
Weed and Insect resistance is a worldwide problem threatening food security. To tackle resistance, farmers are forced to use crop protection products in greater quantities and in greater frequency. But by doing so farmers are also putting more harmful toxicants into the ground damaging the soil health. This all leads to increased costs, time and energy. Pangaea products overcome weed and insecticide resistance while greatly reducing those surfactants that are harmful.

- Herbicide resistance has driven farmers to increase the application rate and number of treatments applied.
- This increase in resistance is one of the key drivers in the increased use of glyphosate and Insecticides.
Farmers facing crisis
- Glyphosate is a widely used herbicide in agriculture.
- Glyphosate-resistant weeds have emerged as a significant problem.
- The UK is losing 820,000 tonnes in wheat yield each year, roughly five per cent of the UK’s domestic wheat consumption, due to black-grass. If all fields were to contain large amounts of resistant black-grass, it is estimated this would result in an annual cost of £1 billion, with a wheat yield loss of 3.4 million tonnes per year.
Using Pangaea products will result in using 25% less glyphosate and 75% less surfactants.
This reduces the number of sprays, giving considerable savings to farmers and a positive impact on the environment.
Using glyphosate reduces the need for ploughing which protects soil health. There are 53% more earthworms in no-plough systems.
Glyphosate protects 20% of winter wheat and winter oilseed rape yield and allows 15% more rapeseed and 17% more wheat to be produced.
If glyphosate was no longer available we would see a 25% increase in arable crop GHG emissions.
Without glyphosate 12 million tonnes of CO2e would be added to our atmosphere (equivalent to emissions from 2.5 million cars)
Latest European reviews of glyphosate
It is the most comprehensive and transparent assessment of a pesticide that EFSA and the EU Member States have ever carried out, taking into account thousands of studies related to human and animal health and the environment, and involving dozens of scientists from EFSA and national authorities across Europe.
The EFSA recently announced, ‘The assessment of the impact of glyphosate on the health of humans, animals and the environment did not identify critical areas of concern’. This removes any risk that glyphosate will be banned in Europe.
13th September 2023
On 28 November 2023, the European Commission adopted the Implementing Regulation to renew, for 10 years, the approval of glyphosate.
Glyphosate is currently approved in the EU until 15 December 2033
Therefore, glyphosate can be used as an active substance in Plant Protection Products (PPPs), until that date, subject to each PPP being authorised by national authorities following an evaluation of its safety.
